OVERVIEW

Following the passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), healthcare in the United States has officially entered into the next phase of reform: implementation. Uncertain and often contentious, in no sector are these changes more numerous or more profound than in the health insurance marketplace. On the cutting edge of developments yet unfolding, the National Congress on Health Insurance Reform is proud to provide detailed, actionable and need-to-know information on the evolving state of the private insurance market and the public programs Medicare and Medicaid, the role of regulators and Government in implementing the provisions of the PPACA and the future of employer-based Insurance in the United States. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and engage with experts, thought leaders and actual agents of change from the private Insurance Industry, State and Federal government, health plans, employers and more.

Not content with providing broad overviews, the Congress has gone to great lengths to place a special emphasis on the actual nuts and bolts of reform that have real world consequences for industry stakeholders. Special attention is paid to the basic provisions of health insurance reform: high risk pools, new federal reinsurance programs, the medical loss ratio (MLR) limits, the individual mandate, pay or play and health insurance exchanges. The looming congressional midterms and litigation against the constitutionality of the individual mandate are analyzed. In a time where rapid changes are bound to have consequences that will reverberate throughout healthcare Industry and beyond, clear, concise information communicated by those who know best is vital as means to survive and thrive in this most exciting time.
